Sanitation workers give 72-hour ultimatum to MC

BATHINDA: Municipal Corporation sanitation workers’ union today gave a 72-hour ultimatum to MC officials to fulfil their long-pending demands or else they will go on strike.

Municipal Corporation sanitation workers’ union today gave a 72-hour ultimatum to MC officials to fulfil their long-pending demands or else they will go on strike.

A meeting of sanitation workers was held under the presidentship of union president Vinod Kumar Mali. At the meeting, discussion on their long-pending demands was held, after which a decision was taken to give an ultimatum to the MC and if they did not fulfil their demands in the given time frame, then they would go on strike.

The union gave a memorandum in the name of MC Commissioner. In the memorandum, they had given 72 hours to MC officials to fulfill their demands and if no attention was paid to their demands, they would intensify their stir and would go on strike, for which the MC, the administration and the state government would be responsible.

Talking to mediapersons, union president Vinod Kumar Mali said their demands were: keeping in view the rising population of Bathinda city, around 1,500 sanitation workers should be recruited, sanitation workers’ old pension scheme should be implemented as while filling the forms they make many mistakes, employees Seventh Pay Commission allowance instalment should be released at the earliest, office should be made for each attendance point, educated sanitation workers who are working in the office for a long time should be promoted, 15 sanitation workers should be regularised, employees who have completed the training period should be regularised and various other issues as well.

Vinod Kumar Mali warned the MC that if their demands were not fulfilled, the union would intensify its stir.

Sanitation workers Bikram, Rajesh Kumar, Magan Bharti, Om Parkash, Vinod Rana, Sikander, Rajinder Kumar, Vinod Kumar, Sunny, Haripal, Sanjay, Suresh Kumar, Krishna, Desraj, Raju, Poorna, Lala, Vijay, Dalip Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Ram Singh and others were present.
