BATHINDA: In another case of chit fund reported in the city, the managing director of a private school has been arrested for duping a woman of Rs 1 lakh by luring her to double her money.

In another case of chit fund reported in the city, the managing director of a private school has been arrested for duping a woman of Rs 1 lakh by luring her to double her money. He has also been booked on the charge of molestation.

The accused has been identified as Baljeet Singh, a resident of Gopal Nagar. As per the complainant’s statement, she had been working as a domestic help in houses for many years. She managed to save Rs 1 lakh over the years.

She has stated that Baljeet Singh offered to double her money against the investment of Rs 1 lakh in a private company a few months ago.

She gave the amount to Baljeet for investment. However, when she demanded her money back, he refused, she alleged.

She also alleged that he tried to molest her a couple of days ago. Devinder Singh, SHO of the Canal Colony police station, said the accused was produced in the court, which sent him to judicial custody. — TNS
