Sewermen protest against Triveni firm over salaries

BATHINDA: Sewermen on Wednesday staged a protest against Triveni company over not giving them salaries outside their office near the Rose Garden in the city.

Sewermen on Wednesday staged a protest against Triveni company over not giving them salaries outside their office near the Rose Garden in the city. They also raised slogans against the company and demanded that their salaries should be released at the earliest.

Irked sewer workers on Wednesday observed strike and did not carry any work in the city related to desilting and cleaning of sewers ahead of monsoon season.

Sewer workers heading the protest Gaurav, Satish Kumar, Arjun Kumar, Raju, Ravi stated that Triveni Company had not given them salaries of last two months, due to which they are facing problem in feeding their families.

Later, a delegation of sewermen headed by sewer men union secretary Ramji Dass and Nem Chand today met Mayor Balwant Rai Nath and Commissioner Rishipal Singh. They told that Triveni Company is not giving salaries to the sewermen due to which they are facing huge problems.

They also claimed that persons who were working as sewer men earlier under the municipal corporation has been taken by Triveni Company as helper, due to which they are getting low wages as scale of helper salaries is low as compared to sewermen.

Workers also stated that whenever they ask Triveni Company about their salaries, then they put the blame on MCB claiming that they are not giving them their payment.

Commissioner Rishipal Singh asked Triveni Company officials that why they are not giving salaries to the sewermen, on which Triveni Company official stated that as sewerage board is not paying them, due to which management has clearly told them to pay them when they will get their payment from the sewerage board.

Later, MCB commissioner instructed them to release their payments as soon as they get it from the sewerage board.

Triveni company manager Sri Niwas said “They would give their salaries as soon as they release it from the sewerage board”.
