Bathinda, January 15

To pacify the disgruntled BJP leaders and workers, SAD candidate and sitting MLA from the Bathinda (Urban) constituency, Sarup Chand Singla, today held a meeting to listen to their complaints and grievances.

BJP councillor Pankaj Arora said, “We are lagging behind our rivals as they have resorted to wrong means. We need to work hard to get ahead of them.”

BJP mahila wing city president Parminder Kaur said there was lack of coordination between SAD and BJP.

“We are not intimated about the campaign in the city. The BJP mahila wing should know about the party activities so that its members can also participate. We should now take to door-to-door campaigning,” she said.

BJP leader Neeraj Jaura said, “In the last 10 years, BJP leaders and workers have been ignored by SAD. We have even not able to get our work done, forget about our workers.”

Senior BJP leader Gulzar Singh said, “Until we reach out to Dalits and make them aware of the schemes and work done by our government, we can’t win.”

Dyal Dass Sodhi said, “We need to do booth management as meetings can’t do anything.”

After listening to the views of BJP leaders, Sarup Singla announced to hold a show of strength at the grain market on January 18 before filing the nomination.

A senior BJP leader present in the meeting, on condition of anonymity, said the meeting had no significance as in last 10 years, they (SAD) had not supported the BJP or involved its leaders and workers but now, they want cooperation.

He claimed that this was not the right way as the BJP district president should have held the meeting and he should have invited Sarup Chand Singla so that BJP workers could have comfortably put forward their grievances.

Another BJP leader claimed that there was no use of such meetings as many senior leaders were absent and those who were present didn’t say anything.

He said the meeting had failed to resolve any issue.
