MANSA: Irked over the slow pace with which development works were being taken up in residential areas, residents of ward numbers 25 and 26 lodged a protest.

Mansa, June 23

Irked over the slow pace with which development works were being taken up in residential areas, residents of ward numbers 25 and 26 lodged a protest. They also prepared a list of their demands and submitted the same to officials of the Municipal Corporation.

Raising slogans against the corporation, residents said they had been complaining against the same problem over and over again, but no action had been taken so far. They also accused the corporation of neglecting their wards since residents of these wards belonged to financially weaker sections of the society.

They demanded that the boundary wall of the waterworks system needs to be constructed and the place be developed as a park. They also demanded that the community hall of the ward be repaired and the structure be completed.

They said street lights be repaired to make it safe in the night hours, drains be de-silted, pipeline be laid for sewerage connectivity, library be upgraded and stocked with more books and funds under various development schemes meant to be distributed among the beneficiaries be given to them as per the rules.

They threatened that if demands were not met, they would intensify their protest against the authorities. — TNS
