Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal and Union Cabinet Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today held a meeting with SAD leaders of the Malwa region at Badal village.

Bathinda leaders headed by former MLA Sarup Chand Singla, Mayor Balwant Rai Nath, former mayor Baljit Singh Birbehman, Sudhir Bansal and councillors attended the meeting.

Sukhbir and Harsimrat held Assembly segment-wise meeting with the party leaders.

Leaders of the Bathinda (Urban) constituency tried to give a power boost to party office-bearers and members, who were disappointed after the poll loss.

They told the party leaders and councillors to work like volunteers and follow the party slogan ‘Raj Nahi Sewa’.

Sukhbir Badal said the development works the SAD-BJP government had undertaken in last 10 years across the state can never be matched by the Congress government.

He said, “We have an intelligence report that the Congress also applauds the 10-year rule of the SAD-BJP and the public also appreciate the Badal government. People like change, so they have done it, but now again we are their favourite again.”

Sukhbir and Harsimrat said the leaders and councillors should initiate a campaign on the achievements of SAD.

They said the Union Government was sending grant under various schemes but the state government was not contributing its share due to which the Central schemes were affected.

Former MLA Sarup Chand Singla said, “The law and order situation is bad as illegal lottery, gambling and smuggling are going on unabated. There is corruption in every office. Today, people are appreciating the Badal government. If elections are held now, the Congress would loss badly.” — TNS
