Bathinda, August 18
The work at the tehsil office was affected today due to the mass leave announced by the Punjab Revenue Officers Association from today till August 21.
Moreover, there was a revenue loss of around Rs 50 lakh, which is generated in one day.
Residents have to wait till Wednesday for their registries and stamp paper work as Tuesday will be observed as holiday in government offices.
Punjab Revenue Officers Association (PROA) state president Gurdev Singh Dham said, “The mass leave was called because of too much intervention by the Vigilance Department, inadequacy of government vehicles and security concerns of revenue officers. Moreover, Navdeep Singh, Amloh Tehsildar, was being harassed by the Vigilance Department in a case.”
“We want departmental enquiry instead of a Vigilance probe. If our demands are not been accepted than we will sit on indefinite strike,” he added.
People who reached the tehsil complex this morning had to return without getting their works done due to the mass leave.
Some people, who didn’t know about the mass leave, kept waiting for the officials.
Mahinder Singh, a resident of Deon village, said, “I kept on waiting for the officials till afternoon. Nobody informed me about the mass leave.”
Tehsildar Sukhbir Singh Brar said, “We were on mass leave because of too much intervention by the Vigilance Department. But we had decided in a meeting that we would facilitate work if some natural calamity occured in any region of the state.”
“Tomorrow, we are going to attend a meeting and hopefully, we will come back to the work soon,” he added.
