The Municipal Corporation of Bathinda (MCB) is planning to develop theme parks in the city. Officials have even selected 15 sites for the project.
A team of landscaping and forestry experts from Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on Tuesday visited Bathinda and held discussion on developing theme-based parks.
Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, who conceived the idea of such parks, had instructed the Municipal commissioner to develop these parks.
After the meeting, a team of experts, along with MC officials, also visited Lake Number 3, water tank number 4, fly ash site, strip along Janta Nagar, DAV pond, Sanguana Basti pond, Sanjay Nagar pond.
They held discussions regarding which theme park could be developed and what landscaping could be done.
Experts explained three themes — waves, circular and illusion.
Municipal Commissioner Rishipal Singh said, “The project to develop theme parks in the city is a brainchild of Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal. We have identified 15 sites for the project. The minister will take the final decision on selecting the sites, where the parks would be set up.”
A few days ago, Manpreet Badal held a meeting with MC officials where he had directed the latter to make Bathinda a green city.
Apart from developing theme parks, even parks in various localities would be upgraded.
The secretary of the MCB has been given the task to make a report on the project, which would include details about the condition of the parks and how these could would be beautified.
In the meeting, Municipal Commissioner Rishipal Singh, Dr Avtar Singh, Professor, Forestry, PAU, Dr RK Dubey, landscape officer, PAU, Jagsir Singh, landscaper Kamaljit Kaur, senior town planner, Vishal Wadhawan, secretary, MCB, Harjot Singh, Fininance Minister’s media advisor, XEN Sandeep Gupta and other officials were present.
