Bathinda, April 26
Miscreants targeted two wine shops in Bathinda district and decamped with boxes of whiskey worth Rs 2 lakh. They also stole Rs 11,000 from a wine shop at Amarpura village. The police have initiated a probe into both theft incidents.
The miscreants decamped with 25 boxes of whiskey from a wine shop situated on the Bathinda-Goniana road near Pukhraj Cinema. They entered the shop by breaking open the locks of the shutter.
The police claimed to have got some clues with the help of CCTV footage in the incident. As per the preliminary investigation, the accused might be three to four as they used a car and a two-wheeler to carry the liquor.
Harish Kumar, a contractor of the Malhotra wine group, said the cost of the stolen whiskey was Rs 1.70 lakh.
In the second theft incident that took place in Amarpura Basti, unidentified persons entered the shop from the rear and stole six boxes of whiskey. The total cost of the stolen whiskey is Rs 30,000.
Sukhwinder Singh, investigating officer, said the accused would be held soon. — TNS
