The Civil Lines police have booked a gang of five persons, including three women, for allegedly extorting money by threatening to implicate victims in false cases. They targeted a security agency owner, who was retired subedar from army.

ASI Manjit Singh said the accused had been identified as Amandeep Kaur alias Manjit, a resident of Teona village, Jaswinder Kaur, a resident of Deon village, Manjit Kaur, a resident of Bathinda, Jatinder Kumar and Honi alias Mani, a resident of Mia village.

The police have registered a case against the accused on the basis of a complaint lodged by Gurtej Singh, a resident of Power House Road area.

He has stated that he runs a security agency in the name of Star Security Service at Shiv Mandir street in the city.

On June 4, around 12 pm, Amandeep Kaur alias Manjit Kaur came to his office for seeking a job.

Gurtej said he told her to bring her bio-data. Around 1.30 pm, she came with a person and gave him her bio-data.

She said the person with her was her brother. She came by car the second time too.

After sometime, she lodged a complaint against Gurtej Singh at the Civil Lines police station accusing him of molesting her.

The police reached the spot and conducted a probe. The police found that the complaint was false after checking the footage of the CCTVs installed outside and inside the office. Meanwhile, the duo escaped.

The real name of the girl was Manjot Kaur and the accused were allegedly running a gang which trapped innocent people and extorted money by threatening them of getting them implicated in false cases.
