A two-day annual fair will begin at the historic Maiserkhana Maa Durga Mandir from tomorrow. This fair is held twice a year during Navrataras.

People from Punjab and adjoining states such as Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi come to the fair and pay obeisance at the temple.

Keeping in mind the large number of devotees, who are expected to throng the temple, the PRTC Bathinda has announced to provide bus service at an interval of every half an hour to Maiserkhana.

The highlight of the fair this time is the sanctum sanctorum in the temple that has been made with 800 kgs of silver.

The fair is organised by Sanatam Dharam Mahavir Dal Punjab.

The temple will be closed on Tuesday at 10 pm for two hours. During this, idols of Durga Maa will be bathed and decorated.

The ceremonies such as ‘Kanchan pooja’ and ‘Aarti’ will be conducted by priest Rajiv Sharma.

The Maiserkhana fair will begin at the stroke of midnight tomorrow.

Priest Rajiv Sharma said, “The temple committee will take care of all security arrangements and the police will provide their services in the area during the fair.” — TNS
