Two theft incidents reported, police fail to get clues

BATHINDA: Two theft incidents were reported from the area that comes under the Civil Lines police station yesterday. In the first incident, thieves decamped with cash and gold worth Rs 7.5 lakh from a house situated on the Power House road.

Two theft incidents were reported from the area that comes under the Civil Lines police station yesterday. 

In the first incident, thieves decamped with cash and gold worth Rs 7.5 lakh from a house situated on the Power House road. A case under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC was registered today against unidentified persons at the Civil Lines police station.

Satpal Jindal, a resident of Power House road, lodged a complaint with the police in which he stated that the unidentified persons decamped with Rs 5.24 lakh in cash and 90 gm of gold from his house.

The incident came to light yesterday in the morning. The police and a team of forensic experts reached the spot and fingerprints were collected by forensic experts. The police have also examined the CCTV footage to get some clue about the accused.

DSP city Gurjeet Singh Romana said they had started the investigation in the case and the accused would be held soon.

Yesterday, some unidentified decamped with Rs 8,000 from a shop situated on Ajit road. A case is yet to be registered in this regard.

In the second incident, unidentified persons stole 88 bags of grain from a godown situated at Mandi Kalan. Around three months ago, 51 bags of grain were stolen from the same godown. The accused are yet to be arrested. 

In this case, the police failed to get any clue about the thieves so far. A case under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC has been registered at the Balianwali police station against unidentified persons.

In his complaint, Naresh Kumar of Guru Nanak Mohalla, Rampura, told the police that unidentified persons had stolen 88 bags of grain from his godown situated at the Shri Balaji Seeds farm, near Mandi Kalan yesterday. 

He said the total cost of the bags were Rs 61,000. 

SHO Rashpal Singh said they had started investigating the case and the accused would be arrsted soon.
