Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of India, outlining the performance targets for the year 2018-19. The MoU was signed by Dr AR Sihag, Secretary, Department of Heavy Industry, Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, and Atul Sobti, Chairman and Managing Director, BHEL, in the presence of senior officials.

Avon Cycles to expand production capacity 

Avon Cycles is expanding the production capacity at its mother plant in Ludhiana by around 50%. The company is investing 12.5 million euros which will help it produce around 15,000 bicycles per day. With the planned expansion, the company intends to meet the growing demand specifically from kids and leisure bikes. The company also wants to enhance its capabilities for producing e-bikes.

Yash Papers receives B Corp certification

Country's largest eco-friendly manufacturer of compostable paper, Yash Papers has been honoured with B Corp certification - a recognition for its commitment to social and environmental standards, transparency and accountability. Yash Papers is also the largest manufacturer of backyard compostable sugarcane pulp fibre-based tableware under the sub-brand, CHUK. With a B score of 110, Yash Papers' score is twice the median score among all B Corps and has been rated as the top 10% B Corps in the world.  

Punjab signs 15 MoUs worth Rs 87 crore 

As many as 15 MoUs worth Rs 87 crore were signed between IT/ITES and Electronic System Design & Manufacturing (ESMD) industry shifting to MetroPark, Sector 103, Mohali, and the Punjab Government. These pacts were signed during an interactive session with entrepreneurs from industry at STPI in the presence of Vijay Inder Singla, Minister for IT and PWD, Punjab. The interactive session was organised by STPI Mohali in association with the Department of Information and Technology, Punjab. The MoUs were signed through Invest Punjab and Department of Industries and Commerce, Punjab. 

Chandigarh University Chancellor bags Gaurav Punjab Da Award 

Rewarding his contributions for promoting Punjab as the preferred destination for higher education and providing exemplary placement opportunities for the youth of the region, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chancellor, Chandigarh University, was conferred with Gaurav Punjab Da Award 2018 by Capt Amarinder Singh, Chief Minister, Punjab, on May 5. He was awarded for his contribution towards inviting best of the corporate world to Punjab for campus recruitments. 

Vardhman Textiles records net sales of Rs 5,851crore 

Vardhman Textiles Limited has reported net sales of Rs 5,851.37 crore as compared to Rs 5,690.95 crore for the previous fiscal, registering a growth of 2.82%. Annual net profit after tax stood at Rs 545.76 crore as against Rs 655.15 crore (excluding extra-ordinary items) of the previous year. Net sales for the quarter ended March 31, 2018 stood at Rs 1,417.25 crore as against Rs 1,498.98 crore during the same period previous year. Net profit after tax for the quarter stood at Rs 159.06 crore as against Rs 152.32 crore in the previous year, registering a growth of 4.42%. The Board of the company has recommended a dividend of Rs 15 per share subject to approval of shareholders.
