CSIR-NEERI develops multi-fuel stove to curb indoor pollution

To check indoor air pollution caused by the use of solid biomass fuels and conventional cook stoves in the rural areas, CSIR- National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) has developed a multi-fuel improved cook stove — “NEERDHUR”. It is known for high thermal efficiency, reduced fuel consumption, less emissions, reduced cooking time, safety and portability. Dr Rakesh Kumar, Director, CSIR-NEERI, said the Institute has sought willingness from potential entrepreneurs and startups for obtaining licences for the transfer of knowhow related to NEERDHUR for its commercial exploitation.

Power Grid organises inter-college debate 

Power Grid Corporation of India organised a debate on the topic "Is present education policy good enough to inculcate the ethical and moral values in students" at Govt. Women College, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. As many as 16 contestants from eight colleges participated in the debate. Hansja Sharma of Government College for Women, Parade, Shivani Thakur of Government College for Women, Gandhinagar and Sapna Devi of Government Degree College, Samba, were were adjudged first, second and third, respectively. Anil Jain, Executive Director NRTS-II, was the chief guest.

Bring higher transparency, BHEL chairman tells employees

Atul Sobti, Chairman-cum-Managing Director,  BHEL, administered the pledge to employees on the inaugural day of 'Vigilance Awareness Week' at the corporate office of BHEL in Delhi. The CMD stressed that every employee should remain vigilant and work towards enhancing the reputation of the organisation through higher transparency. The messages of dignitaries were also read out on the occasion. Functional directors and other senior officers of the company were also present on the occasion.

HUDCO observes Vigilance Awareness Week

In compliance with the Central Vigilance Commission's directions, HUDCO observed the Vigilance Awareness Week from October 31 to November 5. It was inaugurated with the administration of pledge by Dr M Ravi Kanth, Chairman & Managing Director, HUDCO, and RK Arora, Director (Finance), in English and Hindi, respectively, to all employees. The messages from the dignitaries were also read out. Dr Kanth emphasised the need to practise the messages highlighted in the pledge. He was of the view that 'not doing duty to his/her fullest esteem of the position one holds' also tantamounts to corruption.  

Saptarshi Roy takes over as Director (HR), NTPC

Saptarshi Roy has taken over the charge as Director (HR), NTPC, with effect from November 1. Roy (56) is graduate in Electrical Engineering, with career spanning over 36 years of outstanding contribution in NTPC as Regional Executive Director (North) and ER-I Regions as well as Executive Director (Corporate Planning) besides Head of HR at Projects and Corporate Office. He has made major contribution in the HR framework of the company by introducing various innovative ideas like securing the position of NTPC as the best company to work for since 2008.  Roy played a critical role as HR Head in managing transition and people integration issues during the acquisition of old assets and turning them around into successful ventures in NTPC. He acted as a catalyst in ensuring healthy and productive employee relations climate conducive for growth. He has been actively involved in negotiating long-term wage settlement in the past. As  Director (HR), he is overall responsible for the activities relating to Human Resource Management of  NTPC.

Day-long workshop marks vigilance week at REC

Vigilance Awareness Week-2016 commenced at Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd (REC) with the pledge taken by senior officials and employees on October 31. A day-long workshop on principles of public life, integrity and preventive vigilance was also organised. The company also organised debate/elocution and poem-recitation competitions in schools and colleges in Delhi during the week to create awareness regarding importance of ethics and transparency.

PFC staff take pledge during Vigilance Awareness Week

Vigilance Awareness Week was also observed at Power Finance Corporation Ltd (PFC) from October 31 to November 5 as per the directives of the CVC on the theme "Public participation in promoting integrity and eradicating corruption." On the opening day, Rajeev Sharma, CMD, administered the pledge to PFC employees. Banners on vigilance awareness were displayed at various places on the PFC's office premises. An email of four pamphlets, including resolution of the Government of India on PIDPI was circulated among all employees of the organisation. A hyperlink for integrity pledge was provided on PFC's website and intranet. 

Adopt path-breaking practices, expert tells Power Grid staff

Vigilance Awareness Week-2016 was observed by Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd from October 31 to November 5. The theme of this year was "Public participation in promoting integrity and eradication corruption". The week commenced in all offices with the administering of pledge to all employees by CMD IS Jha in the presence of VK Saksena, CVO, along with Directors senior officers of the company. The messages received from the President of India, the Prime Minister and other dignitaries were also read out to the employees. Dr TM Bhasin, Vigilance Commissioner, Central Vigilance Commission, Govt. of India, addressed the employees and apprised them of the path- breaking practices adopted by the Central Vigilance Commission for making vigilance more people-friendly. On the occasion, rich tributes were also paid to Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel on his birth anniversary that is being observed as National Unity Day across the country. 

NHPC commissions 50 MW wind power project at Lakhmana

NHPC Limited has commissioned its first 50 MW wind power project located at Lakhmana in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. The project consists of 25 Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) each of 2 MW capacity, which have been successively synchronised with the grid in October. The project has been constructed on EPC basis at a cost of Rs 302.50 crore. Total annual mean generation from the project is estimated as 94.25 MUs with capacity utilisation factor (CUF) of 21.54%. Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for purchase of 100% power generated from the project was signed with Rajasthan Urja Vyapar Nigam Limited on September 28, 2016. By October 31, 1.56 lakh units of energy were generated by the project.
