Haryana CM kicks off road shows to woo investors

NEW DELHI: Kicking off road shows for the Happening Haryana summit in March, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today met top CEOs for attracting investments and announced a start-up campaign which will tour colleges and universities in the state to promote entrepreneurship.

Kicking off road shows for the Happening Haryana summit in March, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today met top CEOs for attracting investments and announced a start-up campaign which will tour colleges and universities in the state to promote entrepreneurship.

This was the first road show organised today in the run-up to the first ‘Happening Haryana Global Investors’ Summit-2016’ to be organised at Gurgaon on March 7 and 8. Pravasi Haryana Diwas would be organised on March 9 in New Delhi. The Chief Minister also unveiled the website and logo for the summit.

Haryana Chief Minister announced that a start-up warehouse business incubation centre was being established in Gurgaon with the assistance of Nasscom and Hartron. Apart from this, an Incubation Centre would be opened in seven universities of the state.

The start-up campaign of the state government is similar to the Central government’s initiative of start-up India to promote entrepreneurs and create “job creators rather than job seekers”.

Launching the ‘start-up’ programme by lighting the torch during the road show, he said the programme was aimed at generating the spirit of entrepreneurship among the youth of the state. This programme has been started in order to provide employment opportunities to the youth and realise their potential for innovation, he said.

The Chief Minister said the government was undertaking several measures to promote industry and investments in the state which would create employment opportunities.

Haryana Industries Minister Capt Abhimanyu said steps were being taken to organise boot camps and road shows for start-up awareness with the joint efforts of the state government and Startup Accelerator Chamber of Commerce. These boot camps would be organised in colleges and universities across the state from January.

The Chief Minister also met the CEOs and heads of various companies in one-on-one meetings held during the road show.

Haryana has offered land to Coca Cola India for setting up Kinnow juice plant at a food park in Saha, Ambala. This offer was made to Coca Cola India president Venkatesh Kini.

Responding to the offer of the Chief Minister, the company assured that a survey would soon be conducted to explore the possibility for the same.

Micromax co-founder Rajesh Aggarwal has offered to set up a manufacturing unit, preferably in the National Capital Region, providing employment to 5,500 youth with an initial investment ranging from Rs 100 crore to Rs 500 crore. Micromax is currently the second largest smartphone manufacturing company in India.

Krish Iyer, president and CEO, Wal Mart India, also met the Chief Minister for opening its chain of stores in Haryana.

Emerson Electric Co.’s president India, Middle-East and Africa, Pradipta Sen asked the Chief Minister to provide land near Manesar for setting up of a manufacturing unit of electronic parts.
