Auto sales witnessed a healthy growth in the April-November period this year as the sales of passenger vehicles rose 14.29% last month mainly due to a low base of sales during the same month last year on account of demonetisation.
According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the industry produced a total of 19,486,412 vehicles, including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three-wheelers, two-wheelers and quadricycle in April-November period as against 17,818,193 in April-November last year, registering a growth of 9.36% over the same period last year.
Car sales rose 4.49% to 1,81,395 units against 1,73,607 units in November last year. In terms of production, the segment showed zero per cent growth from November last year.
