Gurgaon, May 31
The production at twin units of Maruti Suzuki India remained suspended for the second day today. The company had temporarily suspended the production at its Manesar and Gurgaon plants yesterday as a fire broke out at Subros’s Manesar facility, which supplies air-conditioning parts to Maruti.
“As of now, we cannot predict when the production will revive, but we are looking at all options to resume it at the earliest and achieve the daily production rate,” said a senior official from company’s Manesar facility.
On an average, Maruti produces around 5,000 units a day from its two plants at Gurgaon and Manesar, which together have an annual capacity of rolling out 15 lakh units.
Subros supplies over 90% of its production from its Manesar plant to Maruti Suzuki. On Sunday, a major fire broke at the company’s Manesar facility. A statement by Subros said while it had not set a time line for restarting operations at the Manesar facility, it was working to supply to its customers, including Maruti Suzuki India, from its facility at Noida.
