Rejecting the claims of UT officials that the Mayor and the councillors had agreed to impose house tax, city Mayor Poonam Sharma today targeted the UT officials over house tax.
The Mayor said she was never consulted by the UT officials before imposing house tax.
At a press conference addressed by Home Secretary Anurag Aggarwal and MC Commissioner Bhawna Garg on July 28, the officials had maintained that the Mayor and the councillors had been called by the UT Administrator and they had verbally agreed to impose the tax.
The Mayor said the only official meeting she had with UT Administrator Kaptan Singh Solanki, along with Deputy Mayor Gurbax Rawat and BJP Leader of the Opposition Arun Sood, was on April 1. At that meeting also, the Mayor and the councillors had opposed house tax. Moreover, before imposing house tax, no official letter was addressed to her by the UT officials, the Mayor said.
