120 bookings in for first Bangkok flight

MOHALI: As many as 120 bookings have been made for the Air India’s maiden flight to Bangkok on December 11. The flight will operate thrice a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

As many as 120 bookings have been made for the Air India’s maiden flight to Bangkok on December 11. The flight will operate thrice a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

RK Negi, local station manager, Air India, said, “The Chandigarh-Bangkok flight will take off from Bangkok at 5.40 am and land here at 9.20 am. The flight will depart from Chandigarh at 2 pm on Monday. The take-off time would be 1.25 pm on Wednesday and Friday.”

The duration of flight is 5 hours and 30 minutes. The aircraft, Airbus 320 Neo, has a capacity of 162 passengers, including 12 seats in business class and 150 seats in economy class.

When the bookings had started, the fare for a return flight was in the range of Rs 14,000-Rs 15,000. The current fare is between Rs 16,000 and Rs 17,000.

An airport official said, “At the end of December, tickets would be priced at a premium as the demand would rise due to Christmas and New Year. Fares are expected to reach Rs 23,000-Rs 24,000 by the end of the year.”
