13-year-old’s rape case transferred to Unnao

CHANDIGARH: The rape of a city-based girl, which came to light after she was found pregnant, has been transferred to Unnao.

The rape of a city-based girl, which came to light after she was found pregnant, has been transferred to Unnao. The 13-year-old was raped in March and was found six weeks’ pregnant. On Tuesday, the police had registered a zero FIR at the Sector 3 police station here, but had sent the case file to Unnao. Her relative Suraj has been booked for the crime.

Confirming the development, UT SSP Jagdale Nilambari said, “The Unnao police received the file on Wednesday afternoon”. She said all documents pertaining to the case and information had been shared with the Unnao police. Nilambari said the case would now be investigated by the Unnao police.

On Tuesday, the victim’s statement was recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC and later her abortion was done at the GMSH, Sector 16. The victim, along with her mother and siblings, had gone to their native village in Unnao to attend a wedding function. She was raped there multiple times in a period of 19 days.

The victim returned to Chandigarh last month and on Sunday night, was taken to a hospital after she complained of severe stomach ache. There, the doctors found her pregnant and informed the police. The victim was given some medicine by the accused, which caused bleeding and stomach ache.
