Chandigarh, April 17
The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation on Tuesday issued 14 challans and served notices to 74 residents for misuse of water.
The MC started its morning drive on April 1 and will continue it till June 30 in view of the shortage of water supply in the summer season.
MC officials said those found washing cars/bikes or lawn using water pipe are issued challan for the first offence. Instead, water from bucket can be used. For the second violation, their water metres will be removed.
While in case of overhead tank/pipe/cooler leakage, a warning notice will be served first. If the problem is not fixed by the occupant of that house in 10 days, then Rs 2,000 challan will be issued. For third violation, water metre will be disconnected. — TNS
