17 FIRs, 768 arrests, 24 vehicles impounded

PANCHKULA:Day after the followers of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh went on the rampage in Panchkula, the police today registered 17 FIRs, arrested 768 Premis and impounded 24 vehicles of the followers.

Day after the followers of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh went on the rampage in Panchkula, the police today registered 17 FIRs, arrested 768 Premis and impounded 24 vehicles of the followers. As the police are yet to register FIRs on more than 40 complaints, the number can cross the figure of 50 in the coming days. 

Panchkula Police Commissioner AS Chawla said 17 FIRs had been registered. They have also received a number of complaints by mediapersons, whose vehicles got damaged. The police will register an FIR in these cases as well. As it will take a lot of time to produce these more than 700 people before the court and complete the legal proceedings, the number of FIRs will increase. 

Tiff between SP and Duty Magistrate 

Arguments took place between an SP-rank officer and a Duty Magistrate, who were deputed at Hafed Chowk on Friday. The DC, Gauri Parashar Joshi, said it was their internal matter and it had now been settled between both the officers. 

Sector 14 SHO attacked 

The police have registered an FIR under Section 307 of the IPC (attempt to murder) at the Sector 14 police station against the dera followers. The FIR was lodged on a complaint of SHO Satish Kumar. Sources said he was attacked by the mob on Friday. 

Mediapersons’ complaints 

Mediapersons, whose vehicles got burnt and damaged during violence by the dera followers, also lodged complaints with the Sector 5 police station. The FIRs on these complaints will be lodged on Sunday. 

Welfare associations slam Haryana Police 

At a meeting between DC Gauri Parashar Joshi and different RWAs at the DC complex, Sector 1, the residents slammed the police.
