An 18-year-old married girl was allegedly raped by a 22-year-old youth at gunpoint in the Barwala area of Panchkula district. 

The accused identified as Ravi Kumar, a resident of Barwala, was arrested by Panchkula police. He was produced before a local court and sent to daylong police remand. 

According to information, the victim had got married in February this year. Police claimed that the accused and girl were into a relationship till she got married and later snapped up contact with the accused.

The victim in her complaint at Panchkula Women Police station, Sector 5, submitted that on Sunday, the accused repeatedly kept on calling her demanding that they meet. The victim told the police that on Sunday when she was alone at home the accused barged in and after threatening her at gunpoint allegedly raped her, SHO Rajesh Kumar said.

An FIR under Sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal

intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and under Arms Act has been registered.
