Patiala, June 27
Two persons, both relatives, lost their lives when their car hit a stationary truck from the rear on the Patiala-Sangrur highway, near Sainsarwal village, on Wednesday.
According to the police, the two victims have been identified as 34-year-old, Sandeep Kaur from village Umri in Kurukshetra, and her 22-year old nephew, Prabhjot Singh from Sunam.
A young child survived the accident and is hospitalised with some injuries. The accident took place in the evening when the car being driven by Prabhjot rammed into the truck.
Following the accident, the highway was blocked for over an hour and the police had a tough time managing the long traffic snarl.
Police officials said they had shifted the bodies of the two victims to Government Rajindra Hospital and postmortem would be conducted after the relatives of the victims reach the hospital.
