2 girls swept away in Ghaggar

A girl died while another was feared drowned in Ghaggar river near Brijkotia village this evening.

The incident took place at 5:30 pm when a boy, Adrishya, and three girls went to the river to take bath. While they were inside the river, all of a sudden, the water level rose and they were swept away.

Adrishya and Manisha were saved by locals while two other girls were swept away. Later, Neelam’s body was recovered. After the incident, the police were informed. The police shifted Neelam’s body to the mortuary of Civil Hospital, Sector 6, while search for Monika, who was swept away, is on. Adrishya said they hailed from Rajiv Indira Colony and Mauli Jagran and had come here on a motorbike. All are in the age-group of 20 to 22 years.
