A cyclist and a pedestrian were killed in two hit-and-run cases reported from the city.
According to the police, Muna Pandey, a resident of Ram Darbar, complained that he, along with his friend, Santraj, were returning home from Sector 19 on bicycles when an auto-rickshaw hit Santraj near the Modela light point in the Industrial Area, Phase I.
The victim fell on the road and received injuries. The auto-rickshaw driver sped away from the spot. The injured cyclist was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, where doctors declared him brought dead. In the other incident, a pedestrian was hit by a speeding vehicle while crossing the road near Shivali Garden. Deepak Chauhan, an auto driver and resident of Indira Colony, told the police that while returning home, he saw a pedestrian being knocked down by a car. Victim Ashok Kumar, a resident of Mani Majra, was rushed to the PGI where he was declared dead.
