After getting a report of the incident, several residents of the colony rushed to Ropar.

He said he worked as a gardener and had gone out for work and did not know when his son left for Ropar. Rampal said Anmol had gone to Ropar with three other boys.

He said earlier also once, the four had gone to Ropar but came back after enjoying themselves there. Rampal said Rakesh was the other boy who was feared drowned. His mother and one brother had died earlier in an accident in Chandigarh. He said the other two boys had told him that all four had entered the canal. When they were coming back, the flow of the water increased. They were holding hands while in the water but the strong current made them lose their grip.
