CHANDIGARH:In yet another incident of stalking, two youths, natives of Punjab, have been arrested by the Chandigarh Police for allegedly stalking and passing comments at a girl riding a scooter.

In yet another incident of stalking, two youths, natives of Punjab, have been arrested by the Chandigarh Police for allegedly stalking and passing comments at a girl riding a scooter. The accused were riding a Mahindra Thar. 

According to the police, the victim, who was riding an Activa scooter, alleged that the accused followed her in the jeep and passed lewd comments at her at the Sector 24 roundabout. The victim noted down the registration number of the jeep. 

She informed the police about the incident and gave the registration number of the jeep to them. The information about the jeep led the police to the accused.

Inspector Lakhvir Singh, SHO of the Sector 11 police station, said the accused had been identified as Deepinder, a BTech graduate preparing for the ILETS who was currently residing in Mohali, and Iqbal of Barnala, who had completed his MBA.

The jeep has also been impounded by the police. 

Police sources said Iqbal had come to meet Deepinder. The duo was riding through city roads when they saw the victim and passed lewd comments at her.

A case has been registered under Sections 354-D (stalking) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the IPC against the accused at the Sector 11 police station. The duo will be produced in the court on Monday.
