The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation today vaccinated 22 dogs during an anti-rabies vaccination camp for stray dogs at the Community Centre, Sector 18, here today.
The camp was inaugurated by Mayor Asha Kumari Jaswal.
Baljinder Singh Bittu, president of FOSWAC, and other office-bearers of some of its affiliated Residents’ Welfare Associations were also present on the occasion.
During the camp awareness pamphlets were distributed among residents and visitors.
The Mayor said these camps would be a regular feature which would be held every week in different sectors, colonies and villages of the city and are being organised since 2010.
The date and place of the vaccination camp and awareness material would be distributed among the residents through religious places and residents welfare associations well in advance by at least one week before the camp for more participation of public.
The team vaccinated 22 stray dogs by going into each and every lane of Sector 18. A team of volunteers comprising Rajul Verma, Ishwita Kaur, Udit Bhatia and Bhaskar Kala also accompanied the dogcatchers for spreading the message of compassion towards stray dogs.
