23-year-old gangraped, three booked

A 23-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped in an auto-rickshaw when she was returning home from Chandigarh after work, the police said here today. The victim told the police that after finishing her duty in Chandigarh, she boarded an auto-rickshaw to return home near Kharar. When she reached near Gharuan village, the auto-rickshaw driver and his two accomplices started molesting her. When she resisted, they raped her and threatened her with dire consequences if she raised the alarm or reported the matter to the police.

Acting on her complaint, the local police have booked three unknown persons, including the auto-rickshaw driver, under Sections 354, 376 and 511 of the IPC. No arrests have been made yet.
