The staff of the encroachment wing of the Municipal Corporation (MC) were allegedly manhandled by a shopkeeper and two others today during an anti-encroachment drive conducted at the Sector 19 market.

According to sources, the MC enforcement staff had gone to remove encroachments from Sadar Market when one of the shopkeepers tried to remove the goods displayed in the corridor.

The sources said when the MC staff tried to confiscate the goods, the shopkeeper allegedly misbehaved and manhandled them. The police were informed about the incident. Police officials said three persons — Happy, Ram Kumar and their helper — had been arrested on a complaint of Sub-Inspector Parveen Kumar and a case had been registered at the Sector 19 police station.
