3 in top 10, 6 among 100

PANCHKULA: Three students from the tricity have made it to the top 10 in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) MBBS entrance examination. The results were declared on Monday. A total of six students from the tricity have made it to the top 100 this year. This time, the performance of the tricity is better as compared to last year when only two students had made it to the top 100. In 2016, there were five students among the top 100.

Three students from the tricity have made it to the top 10 in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) MBBS entrance examination. The results were declared on Monday. A total of six students from the tricity have made it to the top 100 this year.

This time, the performance of the tricity is better as compared to last year when only two students had made it to the top 100. In 2016, there were five students among the top 100.

Panchkula girl Mehak Arora topped the tricity by securing all-India rank (AIR) 3, followed by Manraj Singh Sra, a student of SD School, Sector 24, Chandigarh, who bagged AIR 4 and Eishvauk Aggarwal, a student of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 15, Panchkula, who had topped the medical stream in the tricity in the CBSE Class XII exams with 97.6 per cent marks and secured AIR 10 in the AIIMS entrance examination.

Sagar Mishra got AIR 15 and is placed fourth in the tricity. A student of DC Montessori, Mani Majra, he scored 96.4 per cent marks in Class XII. Parul Berry got AIR 30 and stood fifth in the tricity. A student of Shishu Niketan Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 22, she scored 93.6 per cent marks in Class XII. Vaibhav Garg of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Collegiate Public School, Sector 26, got AIR 93. He scored 96.6 per cent in Class XII.


Tricity NEET topper gets AIR 3 

Panchkula girl Mehak Arora has topped the tricity for the second time as in NEET also, she had topped with AIR 31. She has topped Haryana in AIIMS with AIR 3.

Mehak, a resident of Sector 11, Panchkula, who had secured 92.6 per cent marks in the CBSE Class XII medical stream, said primarily it was her father who inspired her, but she also wanted to become a doctor. 

Mehak was in Class VII when her father died of medical negligence. Mehak said she was expecting a good score, but this certainly came as a surprise to her. She had been aiming for AIIMS even though she had topped the tricity in NEET.

Mehak did her Class XII from Sri Guru Gobind Singh Senior Secondary School, Sector 35, Chandigarh, and secured 92.6 per cent marks. A resident of Panchkula, she passed her Class X from St Xavier’s High School, Sector 20, Panchkula, with 95.4 per cent marks in the ICSE exams. Sharing her success mantra, she said, “Listen to your teachers. Have fun and don’t take any kind of stress; otherwise you won’t be able to make it.”

Her mother, Renu Arora, who is a chartered accountant, says, “In a family of chartered accountants and advocates, Mehak will be the first doctor. Parents should not put stress on children and then only, they will be able to secure good marks”. 


Doctor couple’s son bags AIR 4 

Manraj Singh Sra, who got AIR 4 in the AIIMS entrance, had got AIR 159 in NEET. A student of SD School in Sector 24, Manraj is the son of doctor parents. 

Manraj’s father Dr Jaspreet Singh Sra is an eye surgeon in Bathinda, while his mother Dr Navpreet Sra, is a doctor in medicine in Bathinda. Though Manraj was a native of Bathinda, he was staying with his grandparents in Sector 70, Mohali. He said his parents were his inspiration.

Manraj, who was sure of qualifying the exam, said he was feeling great after securing AIR 4. In Class XII, he scored 93.6 per cent marks. He said he used to study for eight to 10 hours and took a break after three to four hours of study. In his free time, Manraj, who did his Class X from Dehradun, likes to read novels too.


tricity medical topper gets AIR 10

Eishvauk Aggarwal, a student of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 15, Panchkula,  secured AIR 10 in the AIIMS entrance exam. She had also topped the medical stream in the tricity with 97.6 per cent marks. She had got AIR 90 in NEET. As a number of her family members, including a cousin and an uncle, are doctors, Eishvauk Aggarwal,  was always aiming for this noble profession. Daughter of Rajesh Aggarwal and Alka Aggawal, who are in the pharma business, Eishvauk said her parents and teachers were her inspiration. Playing badminton, cycling and listening to English songs are her hobbies. She took coaching too and says it is important for a student to be stress-free.She said she was on social media till Class XI, but deactivated her accounts when she entered Class XII.
