3 suspected dengue deaths in tricity

CHANDIGARH:Three suspected dengue deaths were reported from the tricity today, including that of one Zirakpur resident and one Mohali resident.

Three suspected dengue deaths were reported from the tricity today,  including that of one Zirakpur resident and one Mohali resident. If confirmed, the Tricity dengue toll will go up to 17. 

If confirmed, this will be the second dengue death from Zirakpur in two days. Meanwhile, four confirmed cases of dengue and 22 suspected were reported from various health centres of the city here today, taking the total number of confirmed cases from the tricity to 1,047.

Meanwhile, officials of the UT, Mohali and Panchkula Health Departments said they had not received the daily reports of the dengue and chikungunya cases on account of Sunday being a holiday in the department. 

However, officials claimed to have conducted anti-dengue field activities despite the holiday. Notably, out of the 15 deaths reported from various health centres in the tricity, one was reported yesterday from Mohali district, one from Zirakpur on September 23, three deaths were reported on September 22 from various health institutions in Chandigarh, which included two from Mohali district and one from Ladwa village, Haryana. Earlier, five deaths have been reported from city hospitals, including one patient each from Yamunanagar, Kharar, Jalandhar, Jind and Raipur Rani. Apart from this, two dengue deaths each have been reported from Mohali and Panchkula.
