A local court today sentenced five persons, including three women, to 10-year imprisonment for kidnapping and raping a minor.
Rape convict Jeevan Singh of Sirsa has also been fined Rs 1.55 lakh by the court. Out of this, Rs 1.50 lakh will be given to the victim as compensation. Those convicted of kidnapping the victim are Abhishek, his wife Liza, daughter Babli and Mansa resident Kuldeep Kaur. They were fined Rs 5,000 each in addition to the prison term.
The victim’s father filed a complaint at the Sector 34 police station about his missing 13-year-old daughter on September 19, 2016. He had expressed his concern that she might had been kidnapped.
The police have registered a case and started investigation.
On October 6 last year, the police received information that a girl was found abandoned near Faidan village.
The police reached the spot and found the missing girl. She told the police that she escaped the kidnappers’ custody.
The police informed her family. During her medical examination, it was confirmed that she had been raped and the police have registered a case under Sections 363, 365, 366A, 368, 120 B against the four and Jeevan was booked under Section 376 (2) of the Indian Penal Code.
According the victim’s statement, Babli had kidnapped her and was assisted by Abhishek and Liza. She was taken to Mansa in a bus where she was married to Jeevan Singh against her will. She was then constantly raped by Jeevan.
