The Mohali CIA today busted a six-member gang of criminals with the arrest of four of its members along with a countrymade 32 bore pistol, three live cartridges and sharp weapons here.
Mohali SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the criminals — Balkar Singh, a resident of Jeun Singh Wala village in Bathinda, Pardumman Singh, alias Paras, of Budhlada in Mansa, Manpreet Singh, a resident of Khanpur village Hoshiarpur, and Mohammad Itfkhar, alias Chintu, of Malerkotla — were arrested at a naka following a tip-off.
“Two accomplices — Harjit Singh, alias Sonu, and Ranjit Singh, alias Jeeta, of Talwandi Sanghera — managed to flee in a car,” he said.
The SSP said they were conspiring to strike at an ATM at Landran Chowk. “Ranjit Singh and Sonu were involved in a number of cases of forcibly taking away cars at gunpoint. They were also providing shelter to several other notorious gangsters,” said the SSP.
“The accused were involved in attempt-to-murder cases, thefts, brawls and cases under the Arms Act,” said the SSP.
“We hope to work out several cases of crime in the area with the arrest of these gang members,” said the SSP.
