MOHALI: The Air Intelligence Unit of the Customs Department and baggage officers nabbed a passenger from a Dubai-Chandigarh flight while attempting to smuggle 468 gm of gold, worth around Rs 14 lakh, at the local airport, here, today.

The Air Intelligence Unit of the Customs Department and baggage officers nabbed a passenger from a Dubai-Chandigarh flight while attempting to smuggle 468 gm of gold, worth around Rs 14 lakh, at the local airport, here, today.

According to sources, the passenger, identified as Arjun Kumar from Motian Kalan, Delhi, was carrying the gold biscuits in his pocket. Arjun had gone to Dubai four days ago, the sources said.

“Earlier, he had booked his ticket on a Monday flight but later he changed his plan and landed here today,” the sources added.

The accused was immediately nabbed but later released after initiating legal action against him, the sources added.
