Chandigarh, May 24
A PU committee, under Prof SS Johl, Chancellor of the Central University of Punjab, has recommended five teachers from the university for the ‘Professor Emeritus’ title.
Prof Kamlesh Mohan from the Department of History, Prof Ashok Kumar Agarwal from the Mathematics Department, Prof Manmohan Gupta from the Physics Department, Prof Mahendra Kumar from the Department of Indian Theatre and Prof Virendra Kumar from the Law Department have been recommended. The committee has also recommended awarding the ‘Professor Emeritus’ title to Prof Madhu Raka when she completes her re-employment period.
As per the Regulation III in the PU Calendar Volume-1, the Senate can confer the title of ‘Professor Emeritus’ on the recommendation of the Syndicate. The recommendations will be first tabled before the Syndicate on May 26.
