UT schools have fared the worst not just in the tricity but across the region in the CBSE Class X results, which were declared today.

With a pass percentage of 93.6, the UT has done worse than last year when the pass percentage was 99.10. The performance of schools in Panchkula and Mohali, which have a pass percentage of 99.6 and 98.5, respectively, is in line with the performance of schools in Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

From the tricity, 1,641 students have scored a perfect 10 CGPA as compared to 1,200 last year.

While 881 students (400 boys and 481 girls) of the total 15,287 who passed in Chandigarh managed to get a perfect 10 CGPA, in Panchkula, 487 students ( 259 boys and 228 girls) of the total 3,254 who passed also got a perfect 10. In Mohali, 273 of the total 2,830 students who passed hit the bull’s eye.

With a pass percentage of 99.60, Panchkula took the lead and was followed by Mohali with a pass percentage of 98.5. Trailing behind Panchkula and Mohali was Chandigarh with a pass percentage of 93.6.

However, the number of students who appeared for the exams from Panchkula and Mohali was less as compared to Chandigarh.

CBSE Regional Officer RJ Khanderao said 3,267 students (1,984 boys and 1,283 girls) had appeared for the exams from Panchkula, 2,873 students (1,772 boys and 1,101 girls) from Mohali and 16,329 (8,846 boys and 7,483 girls) from Chandigarh.

Of the 16,329 students who appeared from Chandigarh, 9,997 students were from government schools and 5,573 from private schools.

In the UT, private schools fared better as compared to government schools. The pass percentage of private schools was 98.04 while that of government schools was 90.67.

According to details released by the CBSE, 9,064 students (4,558 boys and 4,506 girls) of the total 9,997 (5138 boys and 4859 girls) who appeared from government schools passed the exams. In the case of private schools, 5,464 students (3,210 boys and 2,254 girls) of the total 5,573 (3,299 boys and 2,274 girls) who appeared for the exams passed.
