AAP activists hold protest against attack on Ropar MLA

PATIALA:Members of the Aam Aadmi Party on Friday held a protest outside the district administrative complex in the city against attack by mining mafia on party MLA Amarjeet Singh Sandoa in Ropar on Thursday.

Patiala, June 22

Members of the Aam Aadmi Party on Friday held a protest outside the district administrative complex in the city against attack by mining mafia on party MLA Amarjeet Singh Sandoa in Ropar on Thursday. The protesters burned an effigy of Punjab Government and the mining mafia. They later submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kumar Amit.

The protesters alleged the mining mafia is working all over in Punjab with the support of the state government and raised slogans against demanding action.

Tejinder Mehta, district president of the party said: “On Thursday, the party’s Ropar MLA Amarjit Singh Sandoa was attacked by at least 12 persons during his visit to a sand quarry. He, along with one of his gunmen and a personal assistant, were beaten up.” The MLA was taken to Anandpur Sahib Civil Hospital but later referred to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research , Chandigarh.

Doctor Balbir Singh, co-president AAP Punjab, said: “Amarjeet Singh Sandoa sustained a number of injuries during the attack. The doctors informed that his condition is stable and he would probably be discharged tomorrow.” Dr Balbir also added that a case has been registered against only person yet .
