Chandigarh, April 19
A team of the Chandigarh police that had gone to the native place of the accused arrested for raping and killing a girl, who was three years and nine months old, has confirmed that the accused is a juvenile. The team had gone to ascertain the birth date of the accused.
Since the accused is well-built and looked like a grown-up man and not a 15-year old boy, the Chandigarh Police had decided to verify his antecedents to check his age.
The police team had gone to the accused’s village in Azamgarh district in Uttar Pradesh. Sources said the age of the accused was confirmed from the department concerned and it was found that he was born in 2000. “The team had collected all necessary documents regarding his date of birth, and will return within a few days,” the sources said.
The accused had kidnapped the victim from outside her house in Colony No. 4 on April 10. He raped and strangled her, and then dumped her body.
