Action demanded against builder

KHARAR: Kanwar Sandhu, AAP’s Kharar MLA, sought stern action against those involved in the attack on party leader and artiste Jassi Jasraj here on Wednesday night.

Kharar, November 23

Kanwar Sandhu, AAP’s Kharar MLA, sought stern action against those involved in the attack on party leader and artiste Jassi Jasraj here on Wednesday night.

In a meeting, Jasraj explained to Sandhu and other party leaders how he was attacked by a city builder, owing allegiance to the ruling party, in order to browbeat him so that he did not follow the case of fraud and forgery registered against him.

Jassi alleged that the builder had fraudulently acquired a chunk of shamlat (common) land and constructed flats on it in Kharar. “The police were not arresting him despite his anticipatory bail being rejected by the court in Mohali and the registration of an FIR more than a month and half ago. At least, half a dozen inquiries conducted into the issue have indicted the builder. It is a jungle raj,” Jassi argued.

Sandhu rued that since the police were not taking action against the builder, he had dared to attack Jassi.Sandhu asked the DSP concerned to enquire into the issue. Sandhu said he would also take up the matter with state party president Bhagwant Mann and the Leader of the Opposition in the Vidhan Sabha, Sukhpal Khaira. “We will also raise the issue in the Assembly,” he added.

Kharar SHO Bhagwant Singh said the matter regarding the builder was being probed by the SP (Detective). Commenting on the Jassi’s complaint, he said action would be taken after the completion of the inquiry. — OC
