ADC conducts checking at Zirakpur MC office

Chanrandev Singh Mann, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohali, here today conducted a surprise checking at the Municipal Council office at Zirakpur.

The ADC checked attendance registers and also interacted with the people to take feedback from them about the functioning of the staff and asked about the problems being faced by the residents while getting their routine works done at the MC office.

He said no illegal construction activity near the airport area would be allowed and those constructions that had come up in the vicinity of the airport area would be demolished soon.

He also directed the local administration to ensure that all high-rise buildings in Zirakpur should meet the safety standards and obtain NoC from the fire department.

The ADC also directed the MC staff to pull up their socks to set the house in order and generate the income by collecting the pending arrears in its different branches, especially in house tax, water, sewerage, adding that recovery teams should be set up soon and assigned the task to make recoveries.

Regarding illegal colonies in the Zirakpur area, the ADC has asked the MC to prepare a list of all illegal and unauthorised establishments that have come up in the years.

He said the objective was to curb the proliferation of new unlicensed colonies and save the gullible public from falling in the traps of unscrupulous developers.

Charandev Singh termed the search a routine check of records, adding that the drive would be conducted on a priority basis in near future.
