The tricity top spot in the ISC Class XII examinations has been bagged by two girls -- Anushka Swamy Sapra and Nayantara Singh -- with 97.8 per cent marks. Both girls, students of Strawberry Fields World School, are from humanities, considered a "non-scoring" stream. Last year also, a girl from the humanities stream had topped the tricity with 98 per cent marks.

The second and the third spots have been grabbed by Sahil Ahuja and Kanwar Shahbaz Singh of the YPS, Mohali, with 95.7 per cent marks in non-medical and 93.75 per cent marks in humanities, respectively. Sahil has topped the tricity in the non-medical stream. In the medical stream, Anureet Kaur of St Xavier’s Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh, is the tricity topper with 93 per cent marks. In commerce, Gureet Kaur has secured the first rank in the tricity with 92.8 per cent marks. She is from Strawberry Fields High School. The two toppers had contrasting reactions to the results.  While Anushka said she had put in a lot of hard work to achieve this result, Nayantara said she was shocked to learn that she had topped. What both of them have in common is that they are all-rounders. Anushka has been a national-level debater as well as sportsperson. Nayantara on the other hand is a blogger, a piano player and enjoys horse riding. While Anushka believes in the theory of "practice makes a man perfect", Nayantara watched a lot of films during her exams to keep stress away.
