While the Haryana police have miserably failed to trace the whereabouts of dera chief’s adopted daughter Honeypreet Insan, dera spokesperson Aditya Insan, and dera’s top functionary Pawan Insan in connection with the Panchkula violence, a local court here today issued arrest warrants against the trio.
Confirming the development, Panchkula Police Commissioner AS Chawla said the Special Investigation Team (SIT) had moved an application before the court seeking arrest warrants of the three accused. Accepting the SIT’s application, the court has issued arrest warrants against them, he said.
The arrest warrants were issued till October end, and if the police fail to arrest them, the police would again move court to declare them as proclaimed offender, Chawla added. Recently, the Panchkula police had booked Honeypreet Insan, who has gone into hiding, for inciting violence in Panchkula on August 25. Aditya Insan and Pawan Insan were already named as accused in the case.
Last week, the Panchkula police had even conducted raids at several places at Gurusar Modia in Rajasthan in search of Honeypreet. The police team had raided a building of the dera, residences of family members of Ram Rahim and a school and hostel set up by the dera at Gurusar Modia village in Sri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan. It was a joint operation with the Rajasthan Police, but Honeypreet was not traced.
Honeypreet’s name on top in list
During the interrogation of Surender Dhiman Insan, Dilawar Insan and others, who are close to the dera chief, Honeypreet’s name had surfaced as a key conspirator in inciting violence in Panchkula, due to which 35 people were killed and over 200 injured. Among the list of the 43 wanted in connection with the Panchkula violence, Honeypreet’s name is on the top. In the list, dera spokesperson Aditya Insan’s name figured at number two.
