Asav Kumar overcame a resilient Abhay Mohan to sail into the boys’ final in the ongoing Roots AITA Talent Series (TS-7) Tennis Championship at the Roots Tennis Academy in Zirakpur today.

Kumar dominated his opponent in the opener, winning the set 6-1. However, in the beginning of the second set Abhay gained some momentum and played neck and neck with Kumar. With scores levelled 5-all, Kumar used his experience and consistency to take the lead and walk into the final with a 6-1 7-5 victory.

In the final, Kumar will face Sarabjot, who registered a comfortable 6-2 6-1 win over Sidharth.

Meanwhile, in the girls’ semifinals, Konika got the better of Snigdha in a one-sided encounter. Konika won the opening set 6-1 before knocking out Snigdha 6-4 in the second.
