Chandigarh: New India Senior Secondary School, Panchkula, organised an awareness camp regarding legal services available to children and various welfare schemes enacted for them.



Chandigarh: New India Senior Secondary School, Panchkula, organised an  awareness camp regarding legal services available to children and various welfare schemes enacted for them. It was attended by the students of Classes IX to XII and their teachers. Many issues like child marriage, crime against women and child labour were discussed on the occasion. 

NCC scholarship for city boys

Only two boys from the city were selected for the Northern Region NCC Welfare Scholarship in the Unit 2 Chd Bn NCC, Chandigarh. Both are from Shishu Niketan Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 22-D, Chandigarh. Nishant Gaba is a student of Class XII (commerce stream) and Shubham is from the non- medical stream. They bagged the scholarship worth Rs 6,000 each  from among a total of 1,200 cadets. 

Prefectorial body elected 

A new prefectorial body was elected at Jainendra Public School in Panchkula for 2017-18. The school witnessed elections for the whole week, wherein the nominated candidates used various ways like bulletin boards and personal contacts for canvassing to attract voters. TNS

DAV student shines in shooting 

Patiala: Keeping intact the spirit of flying high at every field, Kritika Sharma of DAV Public School, Patiala, bagged a gold medal in the junior category, a silver in senior and a bronze medal in the youth category of the air pistol shooting tournament held from July 17 to 22 in Jalandhar, organised by the Punjab Riffle Shooting Association. Many prestigious shooters from the state enthusiastically participated in the event. Meanwhile, Students of the the school also participated in IIMUN, a three-day conference, which was organised on the premises of Golden Earth Global School, Sangrur. Delegates of DAV Public School, Patiala, gave an extraordinary performance, showing their debating skills and won six prizes in the event. The prize of high commendation was won by Priyanshu, Jaskaran Singh (Class X-D) as delegates of Egypt, best delegate by Harshita (Class XI) as CM of Punjab, Chirag, Arshkawal (Class X-D) as delegates of France and Seerat as best cartoonist. Principal SR Prabhakar, while congratulating the winners, said every individual was skilled and the only need was to discover the talents and persuade them. He also wished them good luck for upcoming endeavours.

Tree plantation drive at Police DAV

Students and staff of Police DAV School started their day with a special assembly on ‘Van Mahotsava’. Parsi of Class VIII delivered a speech on the topic, highlighting about tree plantation and importance of trees. A poem sensitising children about trees and concern for environment was recited. Principal Meena Thapar told about planting trees in this weather. She paid homage to Rajmata Mohinder Kaur, the mother of Capt Amarinder Singh and wife of Yadavindra Singh, who breathed her last on Monday. A two-minute silence was also observed for the departed soul. After the assembly, primary students planted saplings and adopted trees and took a pledge to look after the saplings.
