Be monsoon-ready, P’kula officials told

PANCHKULA: Panchkula Deputy Commissioner Gauri Prashar Joshi has directed officials of the District Administration, Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), Municipal Corporation and other departments concerned to make necessary arrangements to deal with waterlogging, overflowing barsati nullah, blocked drains, before the arrival of monsoon.

Panchkula Deputy Commissioner Gauri Prashar Joshi has directed officials of the District Administration, Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), Municipal Corporation and other departments concerned to make necessary arrangements to deal with waterlogging, overflowing barsati nullah, blocked drains, before the arrival of monsoon.

She also directed officials to the Irrigation Department to speed up the work in areas to stop landslides adjoining the Ghaggar, Kaushlya, Tangri and other rivers, which are passing through the district, so that no tragedy takes place during the monsoon.

She also issued directions for the installation of warning signboards close to these rivers to stop people from entering the same.

The Deputy Commissioner directed officials of HUDA and the MC to clear blockages in barsati nullah and drains, which are passing through the urban area of Panchkula district. Last week, an eight-year-old boy had drowned to death in a barsati nullah in Indira Colony here.
