The Congress today condemned the Union Government for allegedly betraying young aspirants who had successfully gone through the recruitment process to join the armed forces, but were denied recruitment due to the introduction of the Agnipath scheme.

Addressing a press conference here, Capt Praveen Davar, former AICC secretary, alleged some young aspirants who were waiting for their appointment letters committed suicide after they were denied recruitment in the armed forces even after clearing written examination, interviews, physical and medical tests. “The Union Government is solely responsible for the plight of about 1.5 lakh families for injustice meted out to their sons,” he alleged.
