Board complex to have 6-storey green building

CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has decided to construct a six-storey office complex on 3.23 acres in Sector 9 at the estimated cost of Rs 65 crore.

The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has decided to construct a six-storey office complex on 3.23 acres in Sector 9 at the estimated cost of Rs 65 crore.

Sources said the agenda for approval of the plan and the estimated cost would be placed during the meeting of the Board of Directors tomorrow.

The building will come up on a vacant plot near the existing building of the CHB on the board premises. The CHB has decided to that construction would take place using green building technology. The new building will have two basements and six floors.

With the construction of the new CHB office complex, the problem of the shortage of space for offices of the Administration will be resolved.

Sources in the CHB said the layout and the area of each floor had been finalised. All provisions such as rainwater harvesting system, rooftop garden, solar photovoltaic (SPV) power plant and firefighting have been provided in the plan.

With the construction of the new building, various CHB departments will be shifted there. The board may rent out vacant floors.

To develop infra at IT Park

The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has decided to develop infrastructure on 123 acres at the Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park where it plans a major development.

Sources said the board would spend around Rs 19 crore on laying sewerage, storm water pipelines and constructing roads.

The CHB is developing residential and commercial sites on the land it got back from Parsvnath Developers last year after the latter failed to start a housing project for over seven years.

The CHB is offering sites for hospitals, schools, commercial purposes and private housing projects.

All housing colonies will have gymnasium, swimming pool, club, community centre and marriage palace.

Besides housing colonies, the sites have also been identified for a five-star hotel, commercial complex and shopping malls.
