Body found floating in village pond

AMBALA: The body of an unidentified persons was found floating in a village pond of Jatwar village on Sunday.

The body of an unidentified persons was found floating in a village pond of Jatwar village on Sunday.

According to information, a resident of the village noticed the body floating in the pond. He informed the police about the same, following which the body was fished out.

It is being suspected that the man, believed to be in his mid-30s, had drowned nearly three days ago.

ASI Kulwinder Singh, in-charge of the Patvi police post, said: “We got information that a body is floating in the pond. Villagers have told us that the person was living in their village for the past around six to seven years and used to do small jobs for people.”

It is being suspected that he might have fallen into the pond in an attempt to catch fish as he used to remain in an inebriated condition.

The villagers had no personal details about the deceased.

The body has been kept in the mortuary at the Civil Hospital, Ambala City.
